our story

Ever since I was a little girl I have loved to decorate for celebrations. Back in the 90’s and early 2000’s, my sisters and I would twirl crepe paper streamers to create, what we thought to be, a show-stopping birthday spectacular.

Fast forward a couple of decades, the world was in the thick of covid, my husband and I had a brand new baby, I was in my seventh year teaching art “distance learning style” and to top it off my husband was going through chemo treatment after being diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier in the year (he’s good now, knock on wood). Everything was hitting the fan, and I needed a creative outlet. What better outlet than to plan my child’s first birthday? The theme was “color” and the hours I spent researching different DIY party décor is embarrassing.

Long story short, that season planted a seed for my love for party décor and so came to be Wonderloon Party Co.

where we got the name

The definition of “Wonder” is “to be filled with amazement or awe.” The “loon” portion is a play on “balloon” and a nod to our Minnesota state bird, the loon.

I am a firm believer that even the smallest things should be celebrated and what better way than with balloons that bring a sense of wonder!
